About 3D Secure
3D Secure is an identity authentication service that makes online credit card payments safer.
When making an online credit card payment, the cardholder must enter a predefined ID and password, along with a one-time password sent via an app or SMS to confirm their identity and authorize the payment.
The passwords used in 3D Secure are never stored on the credit card itself, thereby reducing the risk of impersonation by third parties who may have unlawfully acquired the card or its information.
Requirements for 3D Secure authentication
1.Use a card that supports 3D Secure 2.0
- Cards not supporting 3D Secure 2.0 cannot be used.
- To check if your card supports 3D Secure 2.0, contact the issuer using the number on the back of your card.
Brand-specific names for 3D Secure 2.0:
Visa: Visa Secure
Mastercard: Mastercard SecureCode®
JCB: J/Secure™
American Express: American Express SafeKey®
Diners Club: Protect Buy
2.Completed the required registration
- Even if your card supports 3D Secure 2.0, registration is required through your card issuer.
- Registration must be completed for each card individually.
- Registration methods vary by issuer. For details, contact the issuer listed on your card.
3.Enter the correct authentication information when prompted
- Double-check the information and enter it accurately.
- Repeated incorrect entries may trigger a lock on your card.
*If the lock does not lift after some time, please contact your card issuer. - If you forgot your authentication information, please reset it through your card issuer.
4.Use a stable browser and internet connection
- Make sure your internet connection is stable.
- If the authentication page does not display properly, update your browser to the latest version.
5.Avoid being flagged as high risk by your card issuer
- Using your card in an unfamiliar environment, purchasing high-priced items, or making multiple payments in a short period may trigger fraud detection systems and result in restrictions. If this occurs, contact the issuer using the number on the back of your card.
If you're still unable to complete registration or payment even after checking the above, we recommend using a different credit card or another available payment method.
